| research introduction areas of expertise parametrics subinvestigators drug companies CRO's central laboratories review boards how to volunteer | central laboratories In order to ensure each patient volunteer’s safety, and in order to collect data on short and long-term safety and tolerability, clinical research of investigational new drugs requires monitoring of the function of the bone marrow, liver, kidneys, heart and other internal organs, The most effective way of doing this is by collecting samples of blood and urine on a regular basis during the study, as well as by obtaining electrocardiograms (EKG’s). Specimens collected in our center at the time of a volunteer’s visit are processed and sent out to a Central Laboratory specializing in clinical research.
