Just as we are committed to excellent health care for our own private patients, we are committed to the health and quality of life of all individuals affected by neurological illness. We recognize a responsibility to participate in the discovery and testing of investigational medications that we hope will improve the quality of life for those affected by disorders of the brain and spinal cord. The bulk of our research is in the area of testing new investigational medications. We carry out this important research with the support of grants from leading pharmaceutical companies such as Glaxo-Smith-Kline, Pfizer, Lilly, and Boehringer-Ingelheim. To ensure the safety and protection of our study volunteers, each of our clinical trials is reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board before the study begins. Each study is closely regulated by the FDA and conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, International Conference of Harmonization and Code of Federal Regulations. The information provided here is for patients, caregivers, and potential research volunteers, as well as the general public.
At times we may offer you opportunities to participate in a clinical trial. We hope you will take advantage of this unique experience to help find better therapies for neurological disorders. The care and medications associated with these studies are offered to participants at no cost.
We are very proud of and grateful to our patients who willingly give their time to help us with this important part of our mission. However, we do recognize that this is not of interest to everyone. Your decision to participate or not will never affect our commitment to provide you with the best possible care.
